Rent control or no rent control? What protections does your city have in place for tenants?
If you live in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, or Beverly Hills, you may or may not live in a rent-controlled unit. Typically, in these cities, if the property you live in was built after 1978 and has more than one unit, the property is rent controlled.
Other cites in Los Angeles County that do not have rent control may have other types of laws that protect tenants. Glendale, for instance, has a strong eviction control ordinance.
